Here are some words about the EZ-FOCUS II by our Chief Quality Control Technician, Greg Schiller.

I have to admit that when I received the EZ Focus II for the Celestron 8 inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes, I was not very impressed. Boy did I get a big surprise! The ease of installation could not be more simple. Take the focus knob off the telescope with the provided Allen key & attach it to the end of the EZ Focus II. Slide the other end over the focus knob shaft on the telescope. That’s it. I had mine installed in less than a minute. It just slips over the focus shaft & stays there until you are ready to take it off. A little even pressure pull will remove it, but while it is attached it does not slip at all.

I was doing tests on a prototype LPR filter tonight, so I figured this would be a good time to test the EZ Focus II as well. What better way to test an apparatus that is supposed to remove focus shake from a Schmidt, than to aim it at highly magnified deep space objects. I looked at NGC 457 in Cassiopeia (ET Cluster, Mag 6.4), NGC 6826 in Cygnus (Blinking Planetary Nebula Mag. 10) & M 57 in Lyra (Ring Nebula Mag. 9). What I found was, the shake that is normally present (especially at high magnification) as soon as my hand touched the focus knob was now almost completely gone. I was able to focus in & out without the image jumping all over the place in the eyepiece. The end result being, I was able to focus much quicker on a given object because I did not have to wait for the scope to stop bouncing. The focus was now smooth & precise. I found the EZ Focus II to be a blatantly simple, yet very effective attachment for removing focus shake from the Celestron Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes, & it looks great on the scope as well. It's simple, yet extremely effective, For me this one's a big winner!
